The rare icon meme

We've all got those icons that we hardly ever use. Time to show 'em off! Reply to this post with one of your lesser-used icons, and tell me what meaning it has to you, or where you got it from. Then post this meme in your journal, and ask your friends to do the same.

This icon of mine is one that I call "path." I photographed it in a zen meditation garden in Encinitas. I use it to represent inner journeys of learning.

Help for TheFerrett's sister-in-law

theferrett is someone whose journal I've been following for a while now, because of his interesting opinion essays. I don't always agree with everything he writes, but he always makes me *think*.

Anyway, his wife zoethe, herself a writer of Thoughtful Posts, has a sister who is suffering from a potentially life-threatening illness that the local docs can't treat, and that her insurance is being difficult about covering. So the sister is being flown to Seattle for treatment. theferrett describes her illness as follows:

"She has some strange disease where there is so much calcium in her blood that when they put a stint in her urethra, the calcium formed on it like grains of salt on a pretzel stick. When the doctor pulled the stint out, it had partially crystallized."

Anyway, theferrett and zoethe are asking for paypal donations to help defray the cost of treatment. Their post about it is here:
