All tucked in
Jan. 2nd, 2006 01:17 amArnold caught me yawning one too many times, declared it my bedtime, and made up the sofabed in the spare room for me. His cat Henna, who I formed an insta-bond with, is curled up at my feet.
Despite the name, she is grey rather than orange, and she bears rather a lot of resemblance to my grey cat Preia. It's actually startling - they have the same golden-green eyes, the same feather-toes, similar fur, the same general body shape, and even some markings in common. Looking at her from certain angles, I'd be hard-pressed to tell them apart. Though admittedly the hand-sewn rhinestone collar on this one is a giveaway. Henna gets to be the subject of Arnold's unfulfilled parenting drive that involves having a little girl who will wear flouncy satiny dresses every day of her life.
Arnold's apartment is whimsically adorned as well, in a "grandmother's attic meets rural hunting lodge" kind of fashion. Lots of china and chatchkes and doilies; a chandelier; homey family pics. Then there are the antlers dripping with Xmas ornaments over the fireplace; the entire stuffed Canada goose in the living room; and the piece-de-resistance - a set of longhorns mounted on the back of the recliner. That sort of thing. You can see why Arnold's LJ handle is

Arnold and I exchanged presents. I got him a set of equipment for making gum paste flower decorations on cakes - he is really into decorating cakes, and if the pictures are to be believed this stuff makes some pretty darned lifelike edible flowers. We will get to try this out later in the week on his birthday cake. He got me a beautiful silver menorah from Israel, a purple plush throw pillow for my office, and a handful of chocolate Hanukkah gelt.
It is so good to be here at my fairy godfather's house!
