Today was truly wonderful!
First I visited
purplerabbit,
uncledark, and
airshipjones. We read through the
Declaration of Independence together and explained its meaning to their son
fairieboy.
inflectionpoint and
tenacious_snail were also by, and much mead-racking and kitten-adoration occurred.
Then I headed across the bay to spend a delightful afternoon and evening with
brian1789,
patgreene, and their sons J, D, and K.
D taught me how to play a Harry Potter card game, of which we each won a round. A hearty BBQ was cooked - some of the highlights included grilled pineapple and corn on the cob, and for dessert there were
patgreene's famous brownies, topped with sugared strawberries, super-chunk-fudge ice cream, and cool whip. It was a lovely lighthearted meal, with lots of laughter around the table.
tenacious_snail came by towards the end of dinner. We all drove out to the trails behind Moffett Field, and hiked out 20 minutes or so to find a favorable viewing spot for fireworks. It was a perfect night - we had an excellent view, the temperature was comfortable, and there weren't any crowds.

( More pretty fireworks pics, and one more of my housemate's parfaits... )
