Today was a lovely one. In the morning, I took a
soap design class at
Opal'z in Palo Alto, and then after a bit of supplies shopping I came home and taught some of the new skills to
echidnaboy (12). Below are some of the pretties that he and I created:

Among the ingredients we used are tangerine oil, blueberry seeds, ground coffee, body glitter, bath salts, mica and gel dye, and melt-n-pour soap bases. I want to experiment with lots of different herbal ingredients and a wider range of colors and styles... I can tell I'm going to need to keep a firm leash on my pocket-book!
Well, one way to justify a new
habit hobby is to
inflict it on others make gifts! Here are some of the ones that
echidnaboy and I gussied up with ribbons and cellophane...

In the evening,
echidnaboy and I went to a
drumming circle in Los Altos, about 25 people strong. The jam session came together amazingly when a didjeridoo player arrived, vibrating the amazing earth rhythms with such power and stamina - and suddenly everybody else was drumming as one. Didj sounds are a near-religious experience for me, and I was thrilled to see
echidnaboy looking awed by them as well. For a while, the girl in the maroon shirt just curled up on the floor at the didj mouth, soaking in the resonant vibrations.
