Desert Glory

Mom and I went on a scavenger hunt to find the desert's prettiest flowers yesterday...

Salton Sea

Today Mom and I traveled 30 miles east to the Salton Sea, through invigorating 60mph winds that whipped the increasingly sand-duned desert into a brilliant haze of light.

We were too busy driving safely to take pictures during that part, but there were also some incredible vistas...



And some interestingly proboscised waterfowl - this one has a breeding horn:
