Richard suggested a walk along the banks of the Seekonk this evening, and I got to breathe in the scents of a New England twilight. Sun lingering down upon large painted Victorian houses and brick columned buildings; swans swirling lazily in the reeds; purple-topped wild chives gracing the bank of a dark grey pond. Definitely a place for healing.

There is (or was, maybe) a restaurant called The Purple Cat Restaurant in Chepachet, RI. I bought a tshirt from them online (All purple shirt with their logo on the front and the state on the back.) Ever since I received the shirt, all traces of the restaurant have disappeared and I can't find out why. Is there a way to find out if it's been closed down or relocated?
If you could help me in anyway, I'd really appreciate it. If you're too busy, thats okay too. I know its a strange request. *blushes*
Chasing the purple ...
Date: 2006-05-29 04:04 am (UTC)Let me see what I can do. Not quite my usual stamping grounds - Chepachet is mid-state, and I'm in Providence, i.e. coastal Rhode Island - but there have to be some sort of clues, people to ask.

Hey, I was brought up by a serious librarian (R.I.P.). There are strange information requests (yours is far from the record), but no trivial ones. It may take a bit, but let me see what I can learn.
Can you say any more? Like, when was the last date you knew it was open? What kind of restaurant - roadside steakhouse, seafood (not so likely in Chepachet), alternative-vegetarian? Ethnic identity, if any? (Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Indian are most likely around the coast; I'm not sure about inland.)

Finding the purple.
Date: 2006-05-30 02:39 am (UTC)"One of the delights of wandering the countryside is finding restaurants like the Purple Cat. ... Trusting in local experts, I followed directions: look for the sign with a big purple cougar-like cat, just north of the 44/102 split. You have to more or less know that it's there to find it on the first try.
It was a restaurant. A real restaurant, hand-carved signs and historical photographs on the walls. Of course the walls weren't the reason for being there -- I was hungry! And a good thing, too, since I couldn't resist their Friday/Saturday special -- a huge slab of black angus prime rib."
Right on the straight route from Providence to Hartford, Connecticut. Looks like worth a look.
I don't find a Web site for them, but a lot of Rhode Island review sites mention them. But if you want to gripe about your T-shirt, here's from http://www.rhodeisland-source.com/foodlist-Chepachet-Providence/1174/:
