Splashes of color in Santa Fe

I'm spending the weekend with Mom in Santa Fe, NM, which is a vivid bouquet of both natural and artistic beauty.
Mom picking out a gift at a local vendor's table:

Autumn color in the hills at sunset:

We met at the airport in Albuquerque, and after stopping at a local Thai Vegan place, we drove up the scenic Turquoise Trail route. Along the way we stopped at a small museum, dedicated to artifacts of the region's past. I liked these beautifully colored bottles:

And this cheerful sewing machine, which Mom said reminded her of her grandmother's:

Today, we began our day with a hearty breakfast at The Chocolate Maven. I got a rich mocha latte, a fresh orange juice, and a hearty tofu scramble. Mom got a quiche and a Cafe Americano. We sat in a pretty cottage-like room with lacy curtains and pretty lamps, and a picture window view into the bakery of the restaurant:

I was entranced by the croissant-maker's skill, and could have kept watching him make the little rolls for a long time.
The finished product:

Being a full-service bakery, and in keeping with their place name, the restaurant also offers a fine selection of chocolates. Naturally, I bought some.

Well-fed and fortified for our day, we headed into town. I like the little murals that pop up randomly along one's walk:

We were hoping to go to the history museum's exhibit on Jews in the Southwest, but alas that exhibit had closed. We wandered through the plaza and came across some alternative religious-cultural phenomena - the profoundly serene and lovely St. Francis Cathedral Basilica.

Me outside of the Basilica:

A beautiful quilt segment that was on display there:

And some of the amazing stained-glass:

Afterwards, Mom and I wandered along the E. Alameda river walk, to the gallery area along Canyon Road. There were some lovely rock-and-water gardens outside the galleries:

Mom enjoying the view:

Later, we drove out of town into the tiny village of Tesuque. There we had lunch, including a virgin lime margarita for me:

I was taken by the joy and deeply connected energy between this older couple who was sitting across from us:

From there we went to the nearby Shidoni sculpture galleries and garden, which held a variety of themes ranging from the whimsical to the serious. We were there towards closing time, and a congenial groundskeeper motored up in his golf cart asking if we'd like a ride back to our car so that we could move it outside the gate. We accepted, and were accompanied by his little dog running alongside the cart the entire way :)
We wanted to see some natural beauty at sunset, so we drove to the Audobon Center at the top of Upper Canyon Trail, where I took the second photo in this set, as well as this one:

I always love to stop there to just absorb the art I've seen and get centered. And their Rooibos blends are absolutely amazing.
