Here is the necklace that I've made for Mom's birthday, which is later this week. I like the spiral chain, but I am feeling ambivalent about the pendant. I am trying to figure out whether to leave it the way it is, redo the pendant so that the lattice of beads is just a light peach color, or remove the pendant altogether and just have it be a chain. The latter option would be a bit bland for my tastes, but Mom does like pieces that are subtle.

Thoughts?

I think it is gorgeous as is. Worn over an off white turtle neck, or nice silk blouse, the pendent will be what stands out. But you know your mama better than I do. You have my opinion, anyway.

I think it's beautiful as is!

I agree with the other two comments. It's wonderful! But if your mother isn't as multi-colored in preference, maybe the pendant in the 2nd color? It's a little darker but still very neutral (I'm assuming that you're not sure about the colors because your mother dresses in a more neutral palette...)

But damn you beadwork is amazing.

I really like how the gradient of color is reflected and reversed in the design of the pendant. It's gorgeous. I think it would also be gorgeous as just a chain, but (as you said) in a much more subtle way.

It's awesome right now! Ooh, so pretty! If you make any change at all, maybe just remove the pendant to suit your mother's taste, but the colors are great. And really, the pendant is just too lovely to remove!

So pretty!

How do you do the spiral?

I don't know about either removing the pendant or making it monochromatic, but maybe making it smaller? I tend toward subtlety, too, but I think that having something as a focal point in the front makes a difference in the piece.

I think it's perfect just as it is.

Would you send me the pattern you used?

I hope you're happy... I have like six inches of this now and no idea what happened to the last hour.

Being a woman of simple tastes myself, I think the pendant could go; the subtle gradation of color in the spiral chain is beautiful as a standalone and gets overwhelmed by the pendant.

I tend to agree. I find that pendants are often... limiting. I tend not to want to wear them on blouses with centre buttons, for example, where I would wear the spiral strand alone.

Not that it isn't gorgeous, I just don't think it is as versatile.

I am far from the world's best art or jewelry critic, but I don't care for peach and I agree that this chain alone would be a bit bland. Of those options, I think I prefer it as is.
