Cold fury

A friend of mine was attacked last night by a neighbor-woman wielding a baseball bat. Didn't stop there; later that night, someone graffit-painted the house that he and his (male) partner share. Tis likely homophobically-motivated, at least in part, as the woman has made anti-gay remarks at them before.

Arnold's injuries are relatively minor - he's good at defending himself - but man, talk about shattered tranquility. I can't fathom how some people in this world are so filled with hate that they would do such a thing.

Fuck.

I'm horrified. It's not just tht I know and like Arnold, or that hate crimes are an abomination, but here in NYC, it's easy to believe that such things don't happen. Even though I know that's not true.

I really hope he's planning to file charges against that woman. She's free to think whatever she wants, however distasteful to me, but remains bound by the same laws as the rest of us.

Jesus! How the *hell* can anybody do that? Feed the cat, have a snack, pick out a medium weight jacket and then go beat up their neighbor with a baseball bat? Let us know if there's anything we can do, okay? Take up a collection for the cleanup, send chocolate and moral support...
