Preia on the beach
Dec. 9th, 2002 04:55 pmHi folks,
So, Emmett reminded me in his LJ that I should post about Preia's first time seeing the ocean.
The ocean did not make a favorable impression upon Preia; to say that she hated the entire experience might not be amiss. It may simply be that it was windy and mildly chilly and loud... she does better on car-rides, where she explores everything with happy interest. So next time we take her out, we'll try the more milder weather of inland. We do hope that she might take to travelling; it would be nice to bring her along on our day-trip jaunts. And she was the most intrepid kitten in her litter by far.
But she really seems to know the periphery of her keep... she didn't want to cross our door's threshhold on our way out, which is a stark contrast to how avidly she tries to get into the bedroom. She was allowed to sleep with us in the bedroom on her first night here, and then we had to keep her out of there because of our allergies, and she's never forgotten that the bedroom was once part of her territory.

Not quite hate...
Date: 2002-12-09 06:07 pm (UTC)The waves themselves fascinated her, but being up close wasn't something she was ready for yet. What you didn't say was that you walked up to the waves while they were on their way out, started to put her down and then stopped only when you realised your feet were about to get drenched. Preia was two feet above em. I'd have been terrified myself! *grin*
Anyways, she was noticably more calm by the time we left than when we arrived. This is a cat that will, in time, adapt to new environments well, methinks. As soon as we got home, everything was back to normal. That stands in stark contrast to when we both left her alone for two days at Thanksgiving. It was not until the next day that she started to truly get back to normal.

Date: 2002-12-12 10:22 am (UTC)My optimistic cher :-) I think she went for those because they offered some shelter from the cold and wind, not because she loved them in particular.

Perhaps so... the cold and wind did not help to make it a pleasant time for her. We'll try taking her out in calmer places some other time.
Hugs and love,
