More silvery linings
Dec. 16th, 2002 10:42 pmSo our hillside just regained power after 24 hours of not having any... whew! The storm and winds knocked a lot of lines down.
But sometimes it's good to have an excuse to break out of one's routine. Emmett and I definitely spent more quality time together without the computers to do projects on, and we discovered a treasure of a local store: a Mediterranean-Greek grocery store in SSF, which reminds me of the wonderful Greek groceries in Astoria, NYC. We bought a round sesame loaf, some manouri cheese, some dolmadikia, spanakopita, tiropita, orzo, eggplant sauce, and rose flavored turkish delight. Emmett is particularly into turkish delight.
We also got Emmett a Xmas tree. A live one, 3 feet high, in a pot. I don't like the idea of cut Xmas trees... cutting down such a beautiful growing thing for just a few week's use just seems awful to me. So ours will grow and we will keep it, or plant it somewhere if it grows too large to keep. We got some pretty lights and baubles for it... purple lights, brown and golden baubles. And some blue and silver sparklies to wrap it all 'round.
We spent some time cuddling Preia together while we listened to a Muppet Xmas CD that Emmett wanted me to hear. The cat was positively blissful at the two-person cuddling... she purred so loudly, and she periodically stretched and transferred laps, for fairness. We *have* to do that more often.
Then we went and watched the house-height waves break along the coast of our little town. Very pretty :-)
But I'm glad to have the power back now! Email and then bed...
zzzzzz,
Geri
