bathing beauty
Dec. 22nd, 2002 09:28 amSo Preia and I have developed this morning ritual... when I first come in to the bathroom, she leaps to the far side of the tub, and waits for me to turn a little tricklet of water on for her to drink. If I don't do it quickly enough, she puts a paw up there, or gives a small "meow!" as a reminder.
And lately, I swear, she's been *studying* how I do it. She looks really closely at the whole process, and tries to imitate it, but she's still a bit too small to push the heavy shower tap to on. I think.
This morning when I came into the bathroom, she was sitting on the bathmat with a satisfied expression, next to a thoroughly shredded roll of toilet paper. And of course, as soon as I was a few steps into the room, she leapt for the tub faucet. "You *soooo* don't deserve this," I told her, as I turned the tub on for her anyway. No sense getting angry at a cat for something they probably did hours ago. We're gonna need to buy one of those toilet paper covers, I see...
Seems that Preia's got Emmett trained to do the tub faucet thing as well, because I found this picture in the digital camera when I was offloading the last batch:

Postscript: In the Comments section of this post is another picture, of Emmett with Preia when she was 5 weeks old.

I love the photo with Preia near the tap. Every cat I've had seemed to be fascinated with water. My mother's always goes into the shower after she's done to lick the droplets off the wall. And before Shiva died she's walk along the edge of the tub as I was in the bath, dipping her paws in to test the water, and occasionally falling in and freaking out. I thought cats were supposed to hate water...
Anyway, thanks for the news on Grandpa. I spoke to him and Aunt Sue the other day. He sounded pretty excited actually and kept saying "It's a brand new apartment." So while he may be a little nervous too, I think this is a good move for him.
Hope all is well. I love reading the journals.
Things here are good. Nothing's new. I'm off to teach a yoga class shortly as my teacher went on vacation and I promised my fellow students I would run a few classes over the holidays so they could keep up the routine. Good practice for me too.
Hugs
Lauren
