So Emmett was heading out to return a video, and I said "You have to bring me back a present!" This was met with an amused raised eyebrow; there aren't many sorts of presents that one could reasonably buy for one's love at a video store. Or in the neighborhood at 9:30pm.

And so I didn't expect one. But my whimsical one, he did come back with a whole packet of Sixlets for me (I love those), and some *Lime!* Tic-Tacs for us to share. Ooo, bliss. I munched the sixlets happily, even more so when Preia asked to be picked up and then purred in my lap for an hour.

And then I got the sugar shakes... I begin to feel speedy inside when I eat more than small bits of something sweet. And I wanted a meal-type thing to counteract it, but you know, there was this *kitten* on my lap... cannot disrupt the purr of the kitten...

And so Emmett got up and cooked his wonderful soft taco dish for us. Simple stuff - beans, tomatoes, a bit of garlic, corn tortillas. I am wonderfully, wonderfully spoiled...

(Emmett adds here that he is endlessly amused by his having to remind me constantly what they are called... I am hopeless at keeping soft tacos, burritos, enchiladas, and quesadillas sorted apart in my mind. Ordered a burrito the other day when I meant to get a taco, in fact).

Purrrr.....

I can never remember, either. I have a vague pattern that burritos are bundles (at least out here) and huge, and tacos are open (also hard tacos have hard consonants), but I don't know if that works anywhere else.

Mnemonics! Cool! Thanks! Can you do some for Quesadillas and Enchiladas now? I might be able to keep 'em straight then...

You remind me of this story...

I was sitting in a chinese restaurant one day, with friends. Someoen was looking at the menu and saw "moo shoo" on there. She asked what it was. The response was "a chinese burrito."

Love is so cute.

*Grin* That is exactly the analogy we ended up with, actually. He demonstrated how burritos are folded, and I said "Oh, like moo-shu?" and he said yeah.

Somehow I can easily visualize food with its names. I love words. I love food. I'm not otherwize a big viualizer. I have most memory assosiations with verbal images. (I'm a poet...duh).

I noticed I'm on your friend's list. Our common thread is Althaea. She's one of my heros. May I add you.

I think it must be an East Coaster thing. I know several East Coasters who have troubles remembering which Mexican dish is which. I'm at an advantage, having grown up on the back side of a migrant labor camp in Idaho. But, then, I had never tried eggplant until I was in my late 20s and I still have no idea why asparagus is considered a delicacy, when it grows down on the river near grandma's house.

And, don't even ask me about Gefilte fish, French cuisine, or anything European (except maybe Italian food). My experience of cuisine excludes alot of European stuff, but includes way too much hillbilly stuff. You know you're redneck when most of the stuff you know how to make includes the instruction "1. Open the box."
