Last night [livejournal.com profile] emmett_the_sane and I went out on a date night. We went first to La Fondue, and indulged in 2 cheese courses, a tempura course, and a chocolate orange dessert course - many purrs for the senses.

This was even more special because it was the first time that we were back at La Fondue in several months. Emmett was having some adverse reactions to both chocolate and wine for a while, and he has been slowly easing both back into his menu after half a year's abstinence. So we'd avoided going to La Fondue until he could handle both - and I'm happy to say that it looks like he can. Yay! I'd missed that place, and it is wonderful to be able to share the site of our first formal date together again.

We had some really good reconnect time there, full of deep talks and loving kisses between nibbles of delicacy.

Afterwards we went to a surprisingly lovely hotel near where he works - surprisingly because it has so much beauty and so many amenities for what is essentially a Motel 6 price. My favorite parts were the flower-lavished villa-style walkways, the big comfy bed, and the jacuzzi tub, which we had a beautiful soak in this morning before we headed off to work.

Today is a lightly-scheduled one for me workwise, so I get to just be languid now and luxuriate in the happy vibes and memories of it all. Thanks for a beautiful date, cher... and here's looking forward to many more.

We've been talking about places to do "local getaway" kinda stuff, but the hotel price for anything decent has usually been off-putting.

If you wouldn't mind sharing the hotel info...I think I could use a jacuzzi soak before work some morning soon!

Pacific Inn. We were at the one in Sunnyvale, and I've stayed at the one in Redwood City in the past. There's another one in Mountain View... and probably a few more around. (do a google search for "pacific inn sunnyvale"... it appears there is no longer an official website for them; there used to be)

Note that these aren't classy, high quality hotels. They were designed for extended corporate stay during the boom, and their rates (and upkeep) have declined. It was clean, comfortable, and came with a nice breakfast. But a few of the room gadgets (cd player and thermostat) were in some state of disrepair.

I don't know of ANYPLACE else, anywhere, at any quality, where you can get a room with a four-foot, 2-3 person jacuzzi tub for just $59/night, though!
