Not out of the woods yet...
Jan. 20th, 2003 12:25 amThe good: Preia continues to gain in energy. Today she briefly batted at some laundry that I was folding, which she likes to do; and she also came trotting out when I whistled for her (she gets a treat when she respondes to that). This is definitely an improvement over yesterday. She still isn't high in energy, but I'm glad she can do that much. She's also eating, which is good.
The bad: It takes a lot more to get her to purr than it did before; and also we're concerned because she has an odd odor about her, eminating from the wound area, which isn't seeming like a good thing. She's been licking at the wound some, and we've been stopping her as much as we can, but it isn't possible to watch her 24/7. I'm not sure if it's slightly irritated or what. Stitched-up wounds tend to be irritated-looking.
So tomorrow it's likely back to the vet, to get that checked into, and possibly to get her an Elizabethan Collar (to prevent her from licking the wound) or antibiotics or something. She'll likely hate it all.
Goodness, I just want our little girl to heal. People talk about spaying like it's this routine thing, no big deal, but this isn't getting done with quickly or easily. Realistically I know that it takes longer than 2 days to heal from a surgery like that, but I just don't know which aspects I need to worry about and which I don't, and so I worry about everything.
Sigh...

Date: 2003-01-20 06:14 am (UTC)When I took the boys in to be fixed, they smelled like lavender. this is because they had eaten a lavender plant I had in the kitchen. When I took them home, they smelled terrible. Nothing was wrong; they just smelled like vet's office, and surgery.

I hope she and you feel better very soon.
