Some folks had asked me for the address of the *awesome* Greek foods store in Daly City, and now I can give it to you (below). The prices there are quite reasonable. $30 bought me all this: a large box of pistachio turkish delight, a half pound of manouri cheese, a large round sesame loaf, a jar of eggplant sauce, a tin of dolmades, a half pound of good olives, filo dough, a bottle of sour cherry syrup (for Italian sodas), a piece of spanakopita, and a piece of tiropita. Plus a handful of mints that the proprietor added into my bag with a smile. They are at:

Date: 2003-01-25 06:44 pm (UTC)The store sounds wonderful. It reminds me of an Italian store, Vivianos, in the Italian area of St. Louis, MO, called "the Hill".
Thanks for adding me, I just added you back.
Welcome...

One day, I'd like to make a good batch of the traditional pistachio turkish delight like you got.
It is a little tricky, you need a candy thermometer and experimentation to get it right. It's fun to try stuff like that though, even if it isn't perfect. I learn a lot by trying.
