Yes, Preia, water is *wet*...

Preia is fascinated by water. Likes to drink out of the tap, likes to sit watching in meditative reflection as the water trickles down after she's done drinking it. Likes prowling around the bathtub when I'm bathing, and tries hard to jump onto the toilet seat before we close the lid.

But every time she gets close to water, she's mystified about why her fur or tail or paws feel wet afterwards.

Just now I forgot to close the toilet seat cover, and she was up there in a flash. And as she prowled around its opening, her tail draped casually downwards...

and suddenly there was a furious kitty zooming around the room, wondering why her tail was soaked, and trying hard to air-dry it. Oh Preia...

My parents' cat Casey does that. I was drawing a bath, and he hopped up on the rim to see what was going on. He was fascinated by the moving water, so he put his front paws down in preparation for getting all the way into the tub to get a better look. When his paws hit the water, he levitated back off the tub and started frantically washing himself.

That's just what they do. One of my cats once stepped in green paint (don't ask) and I had to wash all four paws in the sink. Seriously not fun for either of us.

One of the cats I was taking care of back in October is a notable exception to the no-water rule. After his humans get out of the shower, he hops right in and lays down in the still-dripping-wet tub. Odd creature.

(smile) my cats do that too...Hi btw...I'm a friend of Galen and Isabelle's...we have one cat that is absolutely fascinated by any liquid in a cup or glass...he also unfortunately, wants to put his paw into anything he drinks...lol...so we try to be very careful and not leave cups or glasses laying around or Gus will be up there *drinking* our drink and spilling it...
