Grandpa's still in Critical Care, but we got some good news this morning; he was awake, and lucid. Couldn't talk because of the respirator, but could nod and blink in response to things that family members said to him. Yay!

He's not out of the woods yet. This morning I really thought he wasn't going to make it; we'd gotten the news that his lungs were filling with fluid, and his heart was failing, and he was having a fever to boot. This morning those things are slowly getting resolved, but he is still not able to come off of the life supports. But he can see and communicate with his family.

My cousin Lauren and I faxed a get well note to him at the hospital, with good wishes and I love yous and photos of us with him at different ages. I hope the staff really took the time to show it to him. I'm 3000 miles away, and she's in Australia, and we can't contact him by phone because of the respirator.
