Here I am on LiveJournal...
Aug. 18th, 2002 02:11 amWell, here I am on LiveJournal. I've been participating as a non-member, reading and adding comments to other folks' LiveJournals for a couple months now, and I'm finding this tandem-diary-writing with friends to be a neat idea.
LiveJournal was also a really vibrant healing place last month when our friend Rich died - his journal became a gathering-place for us all to talk, grieve, console one another, and remember him together at.
I'm not altogether set on what sorts of things to keep in my journal yet. I've been dropping many of the boundaries between my personal and professional identities of late... but there are still some things that don't cross over those lines. Still, I think that random happenings and philosophical musings will make for lively enough entries. We'll see where it goes!
Today was fun. I played Settlers of Catan at an Ethiopian restaurant in the Inner Sunset with Emmett and a couple of friends. Lost one game, won the next. And we poked our noses into some of the stores there too. I like shopping in the Sunset (though the parking there is another story). We found hot savory vegetable buns for $1.50, and an Asian discount grocery that we're going to buy some of our party food at from now on - it had a melange of amazing deals on things like crackers and candies and (swoon) those round Lindt chocolates.
Other things today - I spent some time looking for a small copier for my office - I may have finally found a good one that I can pick up in Berkeley tomorrow. And Emmett and I shopped at Cost Plus for Torani Italian Syrups for soda-making, and came home with 2 new flavors: Watermelon and Peppermint. We plan on resuming our gaming gatherings post-Worldcon, now that our lives have (knock wood) quieted down after a very hectic summer.

Date: 2002-08-18 11:53 am (UTC)Boy, talk about blast from the past... I'm trying to recall the last time I actually saw you in person. Long ago. Hope life's been treating you well since then! Me - I'm enjoying professional life as a psychologist and personal life in a cheery little apartment on a hilltop overlooking the breathtaking Pacific. Well, overlooking the breathtaking Pacific when the friendly neighborhood fog bank doesn't completely obscure it. Then the view resembles the one that you get when you're in a plane that is going through a cloud. But at least it protects us from the heat waves.
