MacWorld Expo 2011 - how to get inexpensive tickets?

So, the 13yo just expressed a desire to go to MacWorld Expo next year. I hear that tickets tend to be pretty pricy, but that inexpensive or complimentary tickets can sometimes be found. Anyone have any ideas on how to go about getting a couple of non-expensive admissions for the 13yo and a chaperone?

Does said 13yo work with a school newspaper or other media? Blogging? Maybe you could apply for a press-pass kind of ticket, dependent on an article of the event?
