So last weekend I visited a Zen meditation garden in Encinitas, and I wanted to share some of my flower photos:

I like this set of concentric leaves for its lovely geometry:

And this one here is such a joyous horn:

Here is a yellow pitcher-shaped flower:

And here is a segment of the smoothed stone garden path:

Looking at this one, you can tell how Georgia O'Keeffe got her inspiration:

And these sunny ones are my favorites:

The symmetry is stunning.
The O'Keeffe inspiration is...zowie. :-)

Thank you so much! Yeah, I get awed too at how much beauty and mathematical perfection there is in nature...

I used to live in Encinitas but for some reason never made it to the garden. I think I am a bit nervous i wouldn't be able to keep quiet all the time.I've heard from many people how beautiful it is. One of these days, when I am in a quiet meditative mood I'll definitely go.

You don't have to be perfectly quiet there... most of the folks there weren't.

They are all beautiful, but I think my favorite is the very first one because of the way you cropped it. What isn't there helps bring out the beauty of what is there.

Thanks!

Argh. You're making me feel bad for not having photoshopped and posted my (1000+) Australia pics.

Oh, don't feel bad, you could just start with five or ten. I would love to see your Australia pics! I spent a couple months in Tasmania with my daughter and got some of my best landscape photos ever!

I've debated the merits of hiring one of my unemployed geek friends to take care of processing them (fixing brightness, contrast, gamma, and color saturation, then resizing and cropping). Except I'm kind of a control freak; I don't trust anyone else to do it as well as I would. :-P

(Well, OK, there actually is one person I'd trust, b/c she's actually a pro photographer. But she's not talking to me right now, and in any case doesn't have a whole lot of free time. *sigh*)

I know what you mean, about needing to do it yourself... ah well. But as [livejournal.com profile] adamchristopher says, you could just choose 5 or 10, and start from there...

Ooh, gorgeous! I love the leafy mandala one the best. Thanks so much for sharing these.

Thanks! Yeah, that plant was gorgeous... especially in the inner part where there were lots of those mandalas all together.
