Today my old friend Patty and I had plans to geocache the day away. We met early, and had fun creek-wading and hill-climbing as we found three caches along Penitencia Creek.
But then the phonecall came in from her good friend Chi. Chi had just been laid off, and was sobbing. Patty had never heard Chi cry before.
Well, it was clear enough what the right thing was to do. I told Patty that I'd understand if she ended our 'caching day early to go take care of Chi.
She did that, and we rescheduled for next week, and I began the drive towards home. We'd made the right choice, but I was still bummed about losing the day's plans. It was only 2:30pm.
And then I decided that I was still going to have an entire day of geocaching.
So I dug out some old 'cache printouts from the trunk of my car, and I went on some lovely walks. I walked a ways up Milagra Ridge, where I took in an incredible view and learned about what butterfly occupies the local habitat. I also solved a local puzzle cache, in rather a different manner than the cache hider had originally intended.
Oh, and speaking of puzzle caches, I planted a new one of my own... I wonder who will be the first to solve it?
I headed for home as the sun was setting, and felt happy about choosing to spend the late afternoon with myself. I'm good company... :)
